Food For Thought #11 - Pain

There was a comment made on Aeri's Site on the April 16 Post. I think its anonymous...the name was "^___^". But in anycase I wanted to pass on some advice.

I'm sure that MANY MANY of you have heard this "lecture" from me. The one about taking chances and pain and what not. Well here it is for everyones referrence!

So you know, you like this girl/guy. Maybe more than just like, maybe its a crush. Whatever it is, the one question that pops into the mind is: "Will I get hurt? Will she hurt me? Will she turn me down" (or in a womans case, "he") And no matter what it is, a crush, or love or whatever, if that person turns you down, you WILL get hurt. And you know what I say???

SO WHAT DEAL WITH IT! LIFE MOVES ON! BUT GUESS WHAT??

You Have Just Now Experienced Life And Now Walk On A Better Person.

Seriously. You know what Pain is now. Now whenever you get hurt, you can realize the pain and not let it hurt you so much.

Experience. Without that, you can never mature. You can never grow. You will never learn. And YOU ARE BOUND to be HURT sometime in your life.

Here try this: (this is for people who can understand Video Games)

So you are playing Final Fantasy right? And you play and play. You fight battle after battle. And you gain Experience. SO you see, after every "battle" you gain experience, and thus grow.

Sooner or later, after fighting in the same area, the Experience isn't doing much for you. You hardly lose any Hit Points (Life). You decide to go to the next level. You fight there, and you brush up against a reallly powerful monster. You win the battle, but you come out horribly scarred and hurt. You gain Experience, lots and lots of it. So you see, the higher you shoot for, the more experience you gain.

Now sure, you get hurt of course. And IT SUCKS. I WOULD KNOW, TRUST ME. But look at me now. I'm fine. After ALL I've been through, I come out of that battle hurt, scarred, and yet I'm still me. If anything better. Ask Felicia, I'm sure she can elaborate on how I've changed. And I feel like a better person. More experienced, more mature.

Now let me try and explain in a more athletic form:

You life weights, run, jump rope, or whatever. What exactly does that do, on a scientific level? Anytime you exert your body, your muscles tear. Slightly sometimes, other times in huge tears. But either way...eventually they heal dont they? And what then? They are stronger than before. The rebuilt tissue is stronger than the old. And thus when you repeat the cycle of working out, you gradually grow stronger.

Same principle. The more you do, the more you get hurt, the more you heal after that (and you will...contrary to popular belief), the more your grow.

So to that "^__^" guy on the comment box at Aeri's Site, I say this:

She/He lets you fall. What do you do? Get back up. You got hurt. Now you know how it feels. Next time you get hurt, tell yourself this:

Oh I remember this feeling. I've moved on since then right? I think I can move on again.

Oh, and dont even think about not trying at all. Lonliness is the ultimate pain.
